DFG Funds Research Network “Leverage Points for Climate Action”

DFG Funds Research Network “Leverage Points for Climate Action”

Research Networt Linked with Center for Life Ethics

The research network ‘Leverage Points for Climate Action’ with member Dr. Stefan Partelow, Senior Research Associate of the Transformation and Governance Research Area at the Center for Life Ethics, has been funded by the DFG for 3 years.

Led by Dr. Jan Petzold (LMU Munich) and Dr. Maraja Riechers (Thünen Institute of Baltic Sea Fisheries) the network will bring together 16 early career researchers in Germany to focus on collaborative and innovation research on social transformation processes for climate action with a focus on a leverage points framework. Leverage points are places in a system where a small shift may lead to fundamental changes in the system as a whole.

The research network will be based on three main themes:

  • Re-Connect  focuses on fostering material and non-material interlinkages between humans and nature.

  • Re-Structure  is concerned with institutional reform, collapse and renewal, including measures targeting systemic and structural changes.

  • Re-Think  emphasizes the need for knowledge co-production, especially through transdisciplinary processes.

The network will begin its collaboration in the Spring of 2024. For more information click here.
